A Merry Christmas

We had a lovely (white!) Christmas with Nic and Alison and Tim and Megan.  Culinary highlights included cookies galore (mainly made by Nic and Alison, who also brought a delicious homemade apple cake) and a beef brisket bought at the Nellysford Farmers Market and cooked as prescribed by Julia Child. Oh yes, and a large “growler” of smoked scottish ale from the recently-opened Wild Wolf Brewery. Outings included a hike up a snowpacked road to feed the cat of a dear friend. Further family pictures may be accessed here.
I subscribe to several food blogs (Stay at Stove Dad, They Draw and They Cook and Doris and Jilly Cook) and when I read your blog there is an awful lot of great stuff about food, but no recipes. Consider adding them as links!
Thanks for the suggestion, Janet. I’ve actually been thinking about doing this, so now “by popular demand” I’ll try doing so, starting with my annual holiday Bourbon Pecan Bread recipe later today.
Hope you and your family had a great holiday Bob! For Christmas, among other things, I got “The Dirty Life” by Kristin Kimball and “Griftopia” by Matt Taibbi. Both of them made me think of you, especially when I saw a Bill Moyers quote on the back of Griftopia’s book jacket!
I hope you guys have a wonderful new year and keep posting recipes! I can still make the Bourbon Xmas bread after Xmas right?
